Andorra is unique in many respect in the European ski scene, it has duty free status, a fascinating mix of Spanish and French cultures and a ski holiday product that is confined to an area the size of a valley of traditional France, Austria or Switzerland. Andorra has the bonus of sunny days and well connected ski areas that basically form 3 main linked ski areas and 2 marketed ski areas with shared ski passes - Vallnord
and Grandvalira.


The ski holiday resorts of Andorra are diverse and offer a good range of options. Andorra is famous for its duty free status and après ski and shopping are certainly key features of a ski holiday in Andorra. Pas de la Casa offers possibly the best après ski in Andorra whilst Andorra La Vella is the main destination and has endless shopping and impressive dining options with the French and Spanish cuisines on offer. The biggest ski area in Andorra is the Grandvalira which is made accessed from the 3 main locations of Pas de la Casa, Soldeu and Grau Roig. Additionally the ski holiday resorts of El Tarter, Canillo and Encamp also access this big ski area with lifts from the resorts.
The second biggest ski area in Andorra is Vallnord which is made up of the Pal – Arinsal and Ordino – Arcalis ski areas. Pal is little more than a base station but offer impressive skiing and is accessed directly from the resort of La Massana, whilst Arinsal has direct lift access and is famous for its après ski.
For a ski holiday resort that is more traditional and Andorran then Ordino is a great option and it accesses the impressive ski area of Arcalis which has a real wilderness feel to it.
